20 interaxions @ a deli counter river-mapped 8 x 8 to a binary (Fu Xi) I Ching seekwinds | post |
7/11/2021> We were on a plane, don't know where. The seating was more like a movie theatre. We sat behind K [hipster NYC girl] then L [friend, who also happens 2 be K's ex-roomate] wanted 2 show us something so went + sat next 2 her. She was asking our opinion of 20 interactions @ a deli counter (being displayed up on the screen). @ 1st we thought they were her real-world interactions but then realized they were comedic skits that were hilarious + were part of a TV series she had called 20 Interactions @ a Deli Counter. 2 the left of was sitting sum woman who was breastfeeding + we got stuck holding the baby in place + it was awkward cuz if we left she might be offended but it was creepy we were holding the baby while she was breastfeeding. She didn't really know what she was doing, not holding the baby properly so if we let go the baby would have just fallen 2 the floor. It was getting 2 that point in the flight where every 1 was dozing off + we didn't want 2 be stuck sitting next 2 this breast-feeding mom. We wanted 2 go sit w/ K [who was really J] + tell her about L's TV show. 7/15/2021> Still debating how 2 proseed w/ Thriver meme. Don't think we'll continue w/ the current online work-in-progress but take it offline 2 print on paper. Either way we want the language 2 be more consciously competent. We have a lot of unused material 2 work with, but not quite sure how 2 fit it in... like Cage or McKenna, we're thinking of using the I Ching as a guide. Not 2 consult so much (which we've done plenty of in the past) but 2 use the 64 chapters 2 structure Thriver meme + guide our thinking. Most I Ching books are arranged according 2 the the King Wen sequence (文王卦序) but we find the Fu Xi (伏羲 ) sequence 2 be a more elegant arrangement cuz it corresponds 2 a binary seekwinds (if u take yin = 0 + yang = 1). In fact, it was the Fu Xi sequence that inspired Leibniz (arguably the true father of calculus) 2 come up w/ the binary #ing scheme by which all computer technology is founded upon. The original I Ching numeric arrangement was based on the Hetu (Yellow River Map—also created by Fu Xi) + the Luoshu (Luo River Scroll, also called the Lo Shu Square):
Yellow River Map Luo River Scroll The problem w/ the above maps is that black (filled in) circles represent even #s + open (white) circles represent odd #s. It's unfortunate this notation wasn't mapped to 0 + 1, but not only did the Chinese not use binary #ing systems, but they didn't have a concept of the # 0 (they used a blank space 2 demarcate 0, which is interesting in itself...). More traditionally, I Ching has been ordered by octagons of triads that are combined 2 form the hexagrams (also attributed 2 Fu Xi, who was inspired by spider webs):
A lot has been written about this stuff regarding cosmology, natural energy (Feng Shui), etc. but 4 now we are only interested in using this binary Fu Xi sequence 2 order our thoughts in regards 2 writing Thriver meme. The problem w/ the above representation is that u don't just go around the circle, but have 2 jump across ½-way + switch directions (granted we could re-arrange the triads above but then it loses it's traditional symmetry... but wow, how it flows w/ the yin-yang!). E.g. in order 2 follow the sequence 1–8 (000, 0001, 0101, 011, 100, 101, 110, 111) u start @ the bottom w/ 000 + move counter-clockwise but then when u get to 011 u have 2 flip to 100 (kitty-corner on the other side) + then go clockwise to 111 to get the triads in binary order (+ then do the same w/ each 2 get the 64 hexagrams, which gets confusing). Arranged in an 8 x 8 grid, the hexagrams in binary order would be:
But 2 find the corresponding text w/in the I Ching u got 2 do a lot of flipping around. It's hard 2 find a mapping
of the King Wen sequence remapped in binary order, so we're including 1 here 4 our own reference (+ 4 any 1 else that cares): {2, 23, 8, 20, 16, 35, 45, 12, 15, 52, 39, 53, 62, 56, 31, 33, 7, 4, 29, 59, 40, 64, 47, 6, 46, 18, 48, 57, 32, 50, 28, 44, 24, 27, 3, 42, 51, 21, 17, 25, 36, 22, 63, 37, 55, 30, 49, 13, 19, 41, 60, 61, 54, 38, 58, 10, 11, 26, 5, 9, 34, 14, 43, 1}
This is all 2 be taken w/ a grain of salt off coarse, just an arbitrary scheme 2 guide our thinking. If ever u read Thriver meme (+ we end up following this scheme), doubt you'd even notice. |
